This workshop was held in Bangalore on 9th January 2026. The Participants received a Certificate from CDAC and IEEE.
The speakers talked about the need for Technology Standards, Policy and Regulation. A need for an effective Supply chain with proper cold storage was articulated; as, for instance, the pineapples grown in Nagaland may have to be transported to Bangalore, without getting over-ripe. Participants got a lot of information on the Agricultural Marketing system and the Supply Chain across India. The next session was on Remote Imaging, Simulation and monitoring of Fields, burning fields, etc. from the Agricultural Physics CREAMS Lab of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute – a very interesting session. This was followed by a session on ICT for Agriculture and Rural development by a researcher from IIM Bangalore. In the Precision Farming, digital farming and Smart Farming session the researcher from ICAR talked about a Sensor based Robotic harvester developed by them and gave a video demonstration. Next, Dr. Raju from Krishi Vignana Kendra Kalburagi talked about how farmers were getting Digital Information dissipation over Whatsapp. Dr. Nilanjana talked about how CCAMP enables start-up firms and individuals on Bioinformatics and Genomics. We came to know about tags like RFID, etc. used to tag okra varieties depending on how it is grown. Next, Dr. Vatsala talked about the communication with farmers on Timing of rainfall, Extreme weather, Climate level, microclimate information was discussed. Also local information from the farmer was collected. A lot of data – Model level, Data level, satellite data, crop cycles, soil classification maps is being collected and analyzed for giving meaningful information to Farmers. The day was very well spent.
IEEE-Standards Association and CDAC are going to drive the Industry Connections (IC) activity to help create a platform to advance research, awareness, and standards based interventions, recognizing the interdependence of water, soil and health. The introductory meeting of the Industry connections activity was held today in remote mode.
