The Amrita School for Sustainable Futures

The School conducts Phd programs, experiential learning programs and Certificate Programs including an Executive Education Certificate course on Resilient futures.

The theme based research areas include Climate Change & Resilience, Water Sustainability, Energy Sustainability, Sustainable Agriculture & Livelihood, Waste Management & Waste to Wealth, AI for Social Good, Education: Pedagogy & Technology, Healthcare Access, ICT Solutions for Communities, Marine Ecosystem & Blue Economy, and Living Culture – Heritage & Intangible Culture – Heritage. The School has taken initiatives on Environmental Sustainability, Online mentoring program called Vidyamritam, Disaster Management. A Community Covid Resilience and Resource Center initiative has also been taken to create Knowledge Societies, developing an empowered network of Communities, Community level resilience, etc. The thematic areas for this last mentioned initiative is Agriculture, Health and well-being, Water and Sanitation, Skill development, Education. 14 blocks have been identified across the country for this initiative. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham entered into a collaborative MoU with ESRI India to set up a center for geoinformatics in spatial analysis and modeling on Dec 26, 2020. The center will be set up under the aegis of Amrita School for Sustainable Futures, Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications, UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning for Sustainable Innovation & Development And UNESCO Chair on Center for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality.
